Telewest Increases Blueyonder Coverage

Telewest has extended its high-speed Blueyonder internet service to Devon And Cornwall.
Users in the South West of England will now have access to a broadband internet service nearly ten times faster than traditional dial-up connections. For an extra �15 per month subscribers will also be able to receive digital TV and interactive services.
Telewest’s sales and marketing director, David Hobday, said: “The broadband tide has turned in Devon and surfers will now be able to download music, gaming and video content in seconds. With digital TV and interactive services also launching, consumers will have a complete broadband surf and turf to feast on.”
Broadband uptake is increasing and forecasts from Continental Research suggest that around 700,000 homes plan to upgrade to a high-speed connection within the next twelve months (see
Telewest recently launched an “off the peg” version of its Blueyonder internet service in an attempt to increase broadband uptake. The new pocket-sized product, which is intended to offer consumers easy first-time access to Telewest’s high-speed internet services, includes installation by a broadband technician, as well as a CD-ROM with tips and information about broadband content (see Telewest Launches ‘Off The Peg’ Broadband).
