Telewest Loses Customer Marketing Director
![]()
Telewest’s director of customer marketing, Chris Pilling, who led the creation of the Telewest Broadband consumer brand (see Telewest Announces Rebrand), has left the company after less than two years.
Pilling, who joined the cable company in March 2000 from British Airways, where he was general manager for marketing, is not thought to have another job to go to but is said to be “considering a number of options.” Telewest has no plans to replace him and marketing director David Hobday has assumed his responsibilities.
Pilling’s departure coincides with rival cable operator NTL’s decision to cut the role of top marketer Mike Hounsell as part of an overhaul of its central marketing division (see NTL Streamlines Central Marketing).
Telewest, which has been moving to consolidate its position in the UK market, unveiled an advertising campaign earlier in the week to raise awareness of the Telewest Broadband brand and promote the range of services available (see Telewest Launches Ad Campaign).
