Telewest Seeks Subscriber Reaction On GSkyB

A spokesperson from Telewest has confirmed that it will not carry the GSkyB channels which are launching next week. Telewest say that the service will not be available unless the majority of subscribers want it. The reaction means that the Granada/BSkyB venture will not reach all of its target audience.

Speculation in today’s press say that the refusal increases pressure on BSkyB following complaints from UK cable operators about its dominance in the pay-television market *(BSkyB Escapes Monopoly Investigation).

GSkyB said on Monday *(GSkyB Launch Will Go Ahead As Planned) that a few deals had to be finalised before launch on October 1.

…Nynex today confirmed that it will be broadcasting all of the Granada channels.
