Tempus Announces Record Results And Repositions As ‘The Agency Of The Future’

Global marketing and media communications group, Tempus, this morning said that it achieved record financial results and net new business wins during 2000. Pre-tax profit at the group grew by 29% to £21.5 million, whilst revenues rose 64% to £151.3 million.

During the year Tempus secured record new business wins worth £594 million – a 52% rise on the year before. “2000 has been an outstanding year in the development of the Group … We now have the capabilities to be the lead agency of choice for clients in building their brands and businesses and this is already attracting substantial new accounts,” chairman Chris Ingram said today.

Tempus says that whilst creating advertisements is glamorous and still important, it is building brands that is key in ‘today’s complex, changing world of communications’. The group now believes it has strategically repositioned itself into ‘the agency of the future.’

“We listened to a significant number of advertisers and it was clear that they regarded three of the most important skills as consumer insight, brand building expertise and media communication skills. Furthermore they want both online and offline solutions to their needs. It is these skills that today lead the whole marketing process,” said Ingram.

Ingram’s confident stance and Tempus’ strong financials helped push shares this afternoon, up 2½p to 368½p.
