Tesco’s Free ISP Signs Content Deal With Excite

The new free internet service provider (ISP) launched last week by Tesco (see Tesco Introduces Free Internet Access) will have content provided by Excite as the result of a deal announced this morning. Excite is to develop specially formatted channel content and internet search engines for the service which is being offered to Tesco’s ten million loyalty card holders.

Initially Excite will provide content for news, sport, weather, lifestyle, money, entertainment and chat channels, although more content may be added later. Evan Rudowski, Excite’s director of European Operations, said: “Tesco is clearly setting the agenda in UK grocery retailing with its aggressive internet strategy and shares our commitment to putting the needs of the customer first.”
