On Wednesday, 32 teams from UK media companies took part in Mail Metro Media’s Padelfest and raised £40k for the British Heart Foundation.

The event, spearheaded by Mail Metro Media chief revenue officer Dom Williams, was held at Padel Social Club in London’s Earl’s Court. It brought together 150 players and spectators of the media industry for an afternoon of sport and entertainment.

Wavemaker, part of WPP’s media investment group took the win against betting company Paddy Power.

Aside from raising money for a good cause, Padelfest highlighted the value of celebrating each other’s achievements, both professional and personal, and coming together as an industry.

Companies including Havas, WPP Media, the7stars and IPG Mediabrands were in attendance.

Despite the competitive energy among the courts, the teams clearly also had fun, as reflected in their names. These included PHD Swingers, The Active All Stars and PADwanted (from The Media Leader parent Adwanted UK).

Winners from Wavemaker, Scott Braniff and Ben Walton.

For Paddy Power, some could argue it had a leg-up, with former England footballer Joe Cole joining the team.

Presenting the winner’s trophy, Williams said: “I couldn’t be prouder of the event we have hosted today. British Heart Foundation is an amazing charity which has supported me and my family in recent years.

“I’m incredibly grateful for everyone’s efforts, the brilliant day of padel we have enjoyed and, most importantly, to give something back to such an important cause.”

Speaking alongside Williams during the prize-giving ceremony, British Heart Foundation regional fundraising manager Rebecca Honey added: “Today, you helped raise an amazing £40k for the British Heart Foundation, which will continue to power groundbreaking research to save and improve lives, giving more people like Dom more time to live well with loved ones.”

Padelfest was sponsored by the British Heart Foundation, Infinitum Entertainment and Calm Media Investments. Other partners include Wickes, PHD, Wavemaker and event consultancy Abbi & Me.
