The Guardian Revamps Saturday Offering
The Guardian is revamping its Saturday books and arts coverage with the launch of a new 40-page tabloid section called Review.
The section, which replaces the current Saturday Review, launches on 1 June and will feature major literary profiles, book reviews as well as opera, visual arts, classical music and theatre news.
The launch issue, which includes articles by literary names such as Martin Amis, AS Byatt, Salman Rushdie and Phillip Pullman, also features extensive listings and the official weekly book sales figures ranking the top 40 titles.
To compliment the launch The Guardian‘s weekly digest of news from the national and international media, The Editor, will change to a larger tabloid format.
Editor of The Guardian, Alan Rushbridger, said: “Books and arts have always been absolutely core to the paper. This new section will enable us to take our coverage of this area to a whole new level, giving the Saturday package a section that will drive the literary agenda.”
According the monthly ABC figures for April, The Guardian has seen circulation increase by 0.7% year on year to 404,630, up from 401,665 in April 2001.
