The Money Channel Gets Carriage On BSkyB
Britain’s first television channel dedicated to money has won a deal to broadcast on the British Sky Broadcasting network. A long-term contract has been signed between the two which will give the Money Channel access to over 1.2 million homes in the UK.
Under the terms of the agreement the Money Channel will commence broadcasting on February 7 2000. Offering accessible entertaining programming on a wide range of subjects, the channel hopes to demystify the world of finance. Jargon-free news, live coverage of the world stock markets and simple analysis of issues such as share ownership, pensions and savings will be included in the line-up.
Managing director Paul Killik said: “This is another major step forward for the Money Channel. By linking with market leader BSkyB, we can transmit our revolutionary service for investors and savers into millions of homes and offices, providing news and analysis on one of the most important aspects of our lives – money. We are delighted that BSkyB has more than matched our own confidence in the project.”
