The Pride Of Britain Awards Is A Winner

ITV The Pride of Britain Awards proved to be a winner for ITV1 last night, pulling in close to 6 million peak viewers.

The annual awards ceremony, hosted by Carol Vorderman and featuring celebrities such as David Beckham, Paul McCartney and Michael Caine, attracted an average of 5.5 million viewers and secured the peak audience between 8pm and 10pm.

Meanwhile, BBC One’s return of the popular forensic drama, Silent Witness, came a close second to ITV1 with 5.4 million average viewers and a 23% audience share during the prime time 9pm to 10pm slot.

BBC Two’s new series of Heroes also proved popular, pulling in more than 3.2 million peak viewers and a 13% audience share at the same time.

Elsewhere, Channel 4’s fly-on-the-wall documentary, The Family, lost viewers this week – down to 1.4 million average viewers and a 6% audience share between 9pm and 10pm.
