The Times Puts Its Name To The Millenium

The Times is to sponsor the world famous Meridian Line at the Royal Observatory, Greenwich, as part of its programme for the Millenium. Visitors will be able to stand on the meridian and read the news headlines thanks to an electronic data news feed. The sponsorship deal will also involve a Times Millenium Sculpture.

Peter Stothard, editor of The Times, commented: “The Times and the Royal Observatory are natural partners. They have both been and continue to be pioneers in their fields…The Times has always been at the forefront of communication and change and this exciting co-operation signals the newspaper’s commitment to the Millenium.”
