The Times Ups Its Cover Price

The Times The Times has raised its cover price by 10p to 80p in a bid to match its rival quality papers.

The News International paper’s new price sees it match the cost of the Daily Telegraph, the Independent and the Guardian.

However, the price of The Saturday Times will stay at £1.40.

The Times changed to a tabloid format in 2004 and has recently relaunched in full colour, with a redesigned Times 2 feature section (see Times Redesign Launches Monday).

Meanwhile, The Sunday Times was given a similar make-over, relaunching in full colour just a month after the daily paper (see NewsLine).

The Times has also recently revamped its pre-paid subscription service as well as starting up a free home delivery Sunday service for readers within the M25.

In the latest ABC figures, The Times recorded a total circulation of 612,019, following a 3.7% year on year decline (see ABC National Newspaper Round-Up: July 2008).
