Thief Takers Is Arresting Viewing For 12 Million
ITV’s new cop drama series Thief Takers has entered the top thirty programme list at joint 20th place for the week ending 28/01/96. The programme which was shown on Thursday 25th at 9pm attracted an audience of 11.97 million viewers and a consolidated share of audience of 50%.
BBC2’s new drama series Our Friends In The North has started well, attracting 4.89 million people. This comfortably beats Channel 4’s top programme of the week, which is unsurprisingly Brookside, with 4.76 million. With all of BBC2’s top programmes achieving greater audiences than Channel 4’s, BBC2 manages to acheive a bigger share of the week’s viewing (11.2% compared to 10.9% for Channel 4).
Total television viewing for the week ending 28/01/96 has risen slightly by 0.2% when compared to the same week last year. In Astra panel homes the channel that improved the most on its previous week total was ITV which has risen from 7 hours and 36 minutes viewed to 8 hours and 5 minutes.
