Thomson Confirmed As Dialog Buyer
Canadian publishing company, Thomson Corporation, has today been confirmed as the buyer of Dialog’s Information Services Division (ISD), as had been expected earlier in the week (see Dialog To Sell Core Services To Ease Debt Burden). Dialog is selling ISD, by far the bulk of its business, for $275 million (£173.5 million) and is to rename its remaining eCommerce and Web Solutions businesses as Bright Station.
Bright Station is to receive an additional £12 million injection, created by equity investment in the group from high technology company JIYU Holdings. Following the sale of ISD to Thomson, the two companies are to enter into a strategic alliance which will see Thomson taking a further equity stake in Bright Station, to the tune of £27.9 million, as well as the creation of a number of licensing agreements.
