Thomson Puts Remaining Titles Up For Sale

Thomson has announced it will consider offers for its remaining regional titles, based in Aberdeen and Edinburgh; these include the Edinburgh Evening News and Aberdeen Herald and Post. If no suitable offers for the Scottish titles are received, they will be kept on by Thomson.

Thomson has said that it will concentrate on its legal, professional, financial, and educational information/publishing areas.

Thomson has announced deals this week selling all its other titles; the Luton titles were sold to Emap; those based in Belfast, Newcastle, Cardiff, Teeside and Chester have been sold to Trinity, dependent on approval by the DTI and MMC. This deal, if successful, will make Trinity the largest regional publisher in the UK.
