Times enjoys Jubilee sales boost of 20%

The Times is thought to have sold an extra 100,000 copies on Monday with its Diamond Jubilee souvenir edition – an uplift of around 20%.

Estimates suggest that the News International title saw sales increase to 450,000 copies – up from 370,000 copies the previous Monday.

The actual figure is expected to rise to as many as 500,000 copies once sales are consolidated later this week due to the publisher’s biggest-ever street selling operation.

The Times also added a few thousand registrations to The Times and Sunday Times websites over the weekend, when it removed its paywall for two days. Total paid-for digital subscribtions to The Times and Sunday Times now stands at 131,000 (a mix of contract and recurring monthly subscriptions).

Meanwhile, the Daily Telegraph‘s souvenir edition is thought to have boosted sales by 3% – around 10,000 copies.
