Times Give Away In Microsoft Deal
In a deal with Microsoft, The Times newspaper will be free tomorrow (August 24th).
As part of the Windows ’95 launch, Microsoft has funded the promotion and doubled the Times’ print run for one day only. Tomorrow’s Times will also include a supplement to mark the launch of the Windows ’95 software. The supplement will also be handed out free at newsagents and railway stations across the UK.
As part of other Windows’95 promotions, there will be a 60 second TV spot featuring “Start Me Up” by the Rolling Stones which will break in the Channel 4 News at 7pm, and will also appear in ITV’s News at Ten.
A one off press campaign will also break tomorrow, with mono full page ads in the quality and mid-market national press. The campaign, will continue with double page spreads running in week-end supplements and review sections. CIA are handling the launch.
