The Times is set to relaunch its Saturday edition next month, with a revamp of its supplements and a new broadsheet format section.
The new Saturday Times editor Eleanor Mills is thought to be putting together a revamped version of the paper, which may see three supplements being scrapped – Body & Soul, The Knowledge and Travel – according to reports.
However, the relaunch is expected to feature three new supplements in their place, including an arts and entertainment broadsheet pullout, though the main body of the paper will remain in a tabloid format.
A new lifestyle section complete with television listings and a new sports section will also feature as part of the revamp, while the former travel supplement will be incorporated into other parts of the paper.
The first edition of the new look Saturday Times is expected to hit the newsstands at the end of January.
It is understood that the changes to the Saturday title will contribute to News International’s wider cost-cutting plans.
