Outdoor advertising company Titan Worldwide has acquired a majority holding in the bus advertising division of Adbus, establishing a joint venture to develop bus advertising opportunities in the UK and Europe.
The move follows Titan’s contract win in January to run all of the outdoor advertising assets of CIE, the national operator of public transit in the Republic of Ireland (see Titan Scoops CIE Account From Hopeful Viacom Outdoor), and its acquisition of Maiden Group in May.
Adbus represents over 300 bus companies and 4,000 buses, making it the UK’s largest British-owned bus advertising contractor.
Bill Apfelbaum, chairman of Titan Outdoor, said: “Titan has a unique pedigree in the transit advertising business, already operating very successfully in North America and Ireland. Now we intend to introduce new competition to the UK and Europe and make a real difference in these markets.”
Andrew Walker, founder and managing director of Adbus, added, “The timing couldn’t be better for Adbus and Titan to join forces. The ability to address specific client needs with truly integrated solutions will provide us with a competitive edge in the marketplace.”
