Corporate Money has announced the 25 City PR firms of 1996. The league table is compiled on the basis of the value of deals made last year in the area of bids, mergers, demergers and disposals advice.
Brunswick took first place in the deals’ league, having advised on a total of 40 deals last year with a total value of £8.35 billion. Shandwick Consultants were involved in 70 deals last year, but the value was put at £2.95 billion so they will have to be content with 5th place. Citygate did not do as well as expected having advised on 34 deals last year worth only £2.54 billion. However, a smaller fish, Cardew did very well. The company was involved in deals worth £2.43 billion.
The telephone number deals which are now being done demonstrate that PR advice on take-overs and mergers is a highly lucrative business.
