Top breakfast show duo extend contract with 95.8 Capital FM

Johnny Vaughan and Lisa Snowdon have signed a new two-year deal to continue presenting 95.8 Capital FM’s breakfast show.

Capital’s breakfast show has more listeners than any other commercial breakfast show in London, with a weekly reach of more than one million listeners.

The pair, which joined forces on Global’s breakfast show 18 months ago, have kept the show’s reach well ahead of its rival London shows, despite posting a 10.6% period on period decline in RAJAR’s Q3 2009 report.

Heart 106.2FM’s breakfast show is its closest competitor with 816,000 listeners.

Global Radio’s group executive director and director of broadcasting Richard Park said Vaughan and Snowdon are an “outstanding duo”.

“It’s thanks to them and a great behind-the-scenes team that the Capital breakfast show has seen such a significant increase in audience figures over the past year, taking us back to number one in London,” he added.

Snowdon is Vaughan’s fourth partner on the show since he took over from Chris Tarrant in 2004.  She replaced Denise Van Outen in August 2008.

The new deal will start immediately, taking presenters’ contracts to the end of 2011.
