BBC Online’s first commercial Web site, www.topgear.com, goes live on 9 April 1997.
The Top Gear Magazine site will offer SuperTest, an interactive ride with Jeremy Clarkson, as he road tests his favourite sports cars. This game comes complete with video-clips, photos, specs and the all important speedometer, as well as authentic engine sounds.
There will also be a daily motoring news service, News On Wheels aims to deliver the latest information hot off the test track, while other essential information will be found in The Garage, Top Gear’s archive.
For those people looking for a new motor, CarChase will endevour to track down the right make and model for you. And, if you fancy your chances in the race track Fantasy Formula One gives viewers the chance to pay £10 to enter the dream race.
