Top Ten Brands – November

The latest Register Meal figures show that the highest spending brand for November was Currys, with its £4.466m national press ad campaign; the second highest was Boots, spending £3.318m on tv advertising.

Both Boots and Woolworths (second with a £3.228m campaign) were not in the top ten brands for last month; Boots were also not in the top ten for November last year. Hasbro Sindy Doll spent the most on satellite ads and McDonalds spent the least.

In terms of radio expenditure Diet Coke spent the most, moving from number 8 last month and doubling its spending to £472,000. In second place came Dixons, new to the top ten from last month, with expenditure of £381,000.

Currys remain top advertiser in the national press from last month, spending significantly more: up from £2.390m to £4.466m. Dixons are second with £2.726m.

B&H cigarettes were the top advertiser in consumer magazines with £607,000. They were not in the top ten last month. C&A slipped to third place with £379,000 from top position last month with £448,000.

In terms of regional press Halifax retain their top position from last month, though their spending was down slightly from £1,181,000 to £1,132,000. DFS Store has moved from third place last month to second place this month, with an increase of £55,000 to £562,000.

In the cinema BT have remained top with £542,000, though Bacardi has decreased spending from being top in November ’94 with £382,000 to being third this month with £318,000. Lucozade and Levis have both decreased the amount they spent on cinema ads.

Ford Fiesta was top in the outdoor sector spending £971,000, though they did not appear last month. Switch came second with £888,000 and was also new to the top ten. Vuaxhall spent significantly less: down from £760,000 last month to £631,000 this month.
