On Monday 2 August, Top Up TV will bring Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 2 to over 10 million Freeview homes in the UK, joining ESPN to form the new ‘sports pack’.
This means that Top Up TV will become the only UK provider to offer access to Sky Sports 1 and 2 monthly, without requiring a contract or a bundled package.
Sky Sports 1 will be available for £22.99 a month, Sky Sports 1&2 for £31.99 a month, and Sky Sports 1 & 2 and ESPN for £39.99 a month. Sky Sports 1 & 2 will also be offered free for the first month.
Nick Markham, Top Up TV chief executive officer, hails this sports package as “the easy place to get Sky Sports 1, Sky Sports 2 and ESPN in the UK – you can choose the best sport on your own terms”.
Launched in 2004, Top Up TV is the only Sports, Entertainment and Movie subscription TV service in the UK on the digital terrestrial platform, Freeview.
BT have also announced that they will be showing Sky Sports 1 and 2 on BT Vision from August.
This follows from the Ofcom ruling in March that Sky would have to reduce the price it charged competitors to show its sports channels.
