Traffic Light Advertising Set To Launch

The latest expansion in the outdoor industry is to come from a partnership between Crossover Media Group and Siemens Traffic Systems, who are to target the UK’s motorists and pedestrians with advertisements at traffic lights. Trials for the service are set to begin in December across south-west London.

Initially a pilot scheme of 25 boxes will determine the viability of the project. Siemens, which maintains the majority of the UK’s traffic lights, has been granted Government permission to use the boxes for advertising purposes and the trial will also work as research into the possibilities of the medium.

Crossover will use a new double-sided illuminated poster format known as “super fours” to cover the traffic light boxes and a full roll-out across the UK is expected to take place three to four months after the pilot.
