Trinity Targets Affluent Midlanders With Paid-For Weekly

Trinity Mirror has launched its second local newspaper in as many weeks, this time targeting the affluent South West Midlands region with a new paid-for weekly newspaper covering the Solihull and the Warwickshire areas.

The Solihull & Warwickshire Guardian will provide local residents with an intelligent round-up of the week’s news every Thursday, available to buy from newsagents, supermarkets and shops across Solihull and the villages to the south and east of the borough including Henley in Arden and Hockley Heath.

As well as editorial content the newspaper will carry essential information for residents including local events and a what’s on guide. A dedicated editorial team is led by Series Editor Ross Crawford, who has worked in journalism for 21 years including 3 years as editor of the Solihull News and Solihull Times.

Deputy editor Enda Mullen and news editor Shelia Grandfield are both “Solihull born and bred”, giving them an excellent insight into the people and the area, while experienced chief sub-editor Jamie Home completes the team.

Trinity claims the new title will be a valuable addition to its portfolio of titles in the region. The Solihull News and Solihull Times are both well established free weekly newspapers, with the News in particular having served the community since 1935.

Commenting on the new launch, Trinity’s regional marketing director, Jane Nugent said: “The launch of The Solihull & Warwickshire Guardian shows our commitment to the area. We will be able to offer an unbeatable portfolio of newspapers for advertisers looking to target people in this affluent region.”

The new title will provide a full range of advertising platforms, including Property, Recruitment and Motors. The experienced advertising team is led by Midland Weekly Media advertising director, Tracy Colley.

The Solihull & Warwickshire Guardian is the 41st publication in Trinity Mirror’s portfolio of leading newspapers already on offer in the Midlands, including the Coventry Evening Telegraph, Birmingham Evening Mail and Solihull News. The latest launch follows last week’s announcement by Trinity that a new free paper, the Kenilworth Citizen, would be launched to reach over 9,000 homes in the Kenilworth area of the West Midlands (see Trinity Mirror Launches 40th Midlands Newspaper).
