TRN Profits Increased

First-half results for Thomson Regional Newspapers were well above those of the comparable 1992 period, as were figures for most of the group’s UK business, professional and academic publishing interests.

Although profits of the Information and Publishing division actually fell by 12% to £53m in the first quarter, in the second quarter they rose 4%, at £52.7m. Predictions for the second half are even higher.

First-half operating profits for the entire group, Thomson Corporation, were unchanged at £115m, hit by currency differences.
