TV Advertising Most Annoying, Says PPA Research

Television adverts are more annoying than any other kind, according to a new study. The research, out next month, was commissioned by the Periodical Publisher’s Association (PPA) and will reveal that more than half of all respondents who watch TV said that they often find advertising annoying.

The Absorbing Media report, launched on 8 May as part of the Magazines 2002 marketing conference, has slightly better news for commercial radio, on which advertising was annoying to 23% of respondents who listened and the internet, where advertising was annoying to 18% of users. The media faring best from the survey was print, with only 10% of respondents saying that advertising in consumer magazines had an negative effect on the medium.
