Channel 5 enjoyed yet another bumper month of increased revenues in January – up 14.8% on last year. The channel has posted a run of positive results under Richard Desmond’s ownership.
Channel 5 was the only channel in our Network Revenue analysis to see an increase in January. Celebrity Big Brother dominated the channel’s TV ratings during the month, though the long-running CSI – New York also made it into the top five programmes list.
Elsewhere, ITV1 was down -6.8% YoY; ITV Breakfast -12.7%; and Channel 4 -3.3%. Overall, Total Terrestrial (including ITV Breakfast) was down -4.0% YoY, while Total Satellite was up 16.6%.
