Revenue Agency estimates for TV revenue during November 2000 saw year on year increases for most of the terrestrial channels. GMTV was the exception, falling 5.3%, but Channel 5 put in the best performance, adding nearly 30% year on year. ITV enjoyed a good autumn, adding 0.7% to its revenue compared to last year, while Channel 4 added 8.4%

Satellite television continues to expand its place in the market, and saw a 7.8% increase in revenue in the year on year analysis.

Central commanded the largest share of revenue among the franchisees, increasing its share by 0.1% points year on year. This meant it stayed ahead of Carlton, which saw no change in its share compared to last year.

There were no huge changes in franchise revenue share year on year. The largest gain during the month was at LWT, which increased by 0.8 percentage points. Anglia and Border both saw the largest falls, dropping 0.3 percentage points each.

Costs Per Thousand Channel 5 showed the largest year on year increases in Costs Per Thousand (CPT) during November with ABC1 Adults up 35.7% and Women up 32.4%. Channel 4 also increased its CPT for all categories, most notably Men, which rose 10.6%.

For the most part, CPTs at ITV were down on last year’s. ABC1 Adults dropped 5.9% and the Housewives category fell 3.5%. The only exception was Housewives with Children, which increased by 5.4%.

Commercial Impacts Commercial Impacts during November were down for ITV in the Housewives with Children category, by 4.5%, but rose for Housewives by 4.3%. Channel 4 saw its biggest increase in the Men category, which increased 5.6% year on year.

Channel 5 managed a 12.7% increase in the Men category and 6.4% in Housewives, but dropped 2.2% in Women and 4.7% in ABC1 Adults. Satellite once again saw the most dramatic increases across the board in Commercial Impacts, including a 39.9% increase in ABC1 Adults and a 25% rise in Men.
