TV Overnights: BBC One banks a peak run during prime time

BBC One secured the highest ratings all evening yesterday with a peak run of Eastenders, Holby City and Lost Land of the Volcano.

The channel also claimed the peak audience after prime time with BBC News at Ten and The World’s Strictest Parents, which was on between 10.35pm and 11.35pm.

At 7.30pm, Eastenders kick-started the peak run with a high of 8.3 million viewers and a 39.5% audience share, followed by Holby City‘s 5.4 million peak viewers and 23.9% share.

During the all-important 9pm to 10pm peak hour, the last in the series of Lost Land of the Volcano, which saw the team visit an erupting volcano in New Guinea, secured 4.1 million average viewers and a 17.8% share.

At the same time, ITV1’s The Fixer – a crime drama starring Tamzin Outhwaite – pulled in 3.1 million average viewers and a 13.7% share, putting it in second place in the prime time ratings war.  BBC Two’s final The Choir: Unsung Town, meanwhile, attracted 2.6 million viewers and a 11.2% average audience share.

Jamie’s American Road Trip came close behind, picking up 2.3 million viewers and a 10% share for Channel 4, while Five’s ever-popular CSI: Miami pulled in 1.9 million viewers and a 8.2% share.
