TV Overnights: BBC One banks a prime time ratings run

BBC One

BBC One secured a prime time ratings run last night with Eastenders, Holby City and Silk.

The fourth episode of Silk, starring Maxine Peake and Neil Stuke, banked the 9pm to 10pm peak-hour ratings with 4.9 million viewers and a 20% average audience share.

However, Eastenders attracted the highest ratings of the night – peaking with more than 8.7 million viewers and a 37.2% average share in the 7.30pm to 8pm slot.

Meanwhile, in the 8pm to 9pm slot, Holby City achieved an average audience of 5.5 million viewers and a 20% share.

Elsewhere, Emmerdale pulled in ITV1’s peak audience of the evening. The Yorkshire-based soap picked up more than 7 million viewers between 7pm and 7.30pm. The channel’s peak-hour show Caroline Quentin: A Passage Through India did less well, settling on just 1.9 million viewers and a 8% share between 9pm and 10pm.

Channel 5’s was BBC One’s closest competitor during the 9pm to 10pm slot with CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, which attracted over 2.1 million viewers and a 9% share.

At the same time, Channel 4’s Heston’s Mission Impossible continued with 1.7 million viewers, while BBC Two’s new Bible’s Buried Secrets picked up 1.6 million viewers.
