BBC One’s long-running Crimewatch secured the highest ratings during the all-important peak-hour last night with a high of more than 4.6 million viewers.
The real-life crime-solving programme beat ITV1’s crime drama The Bill to the top spot, with 4.1 million average viewers and a 16.8% share between 9pm and 10pm.
The Bill, meanwhile, started on a high of 4.2 million peak viewers but settled on 3.9 million average viewers and a 16% share during the hour-long slot.
Elsewhere, BBC Two’s popular comedy quiz show Mock the Week picked up 2.8 million average viewers and a 11.3% share between 9pm and 9.30pm, before the last in the series of Rab C Nesbitt completed the peak-hour with 1.5 million viewers and a 6.5% share.
Channel 4’s Scams, Claims and Compensation Games, a Cutting Edge documentary exploring Britain’s personal injury industry, attracted more than two million average viewers and a 8.4% share between 9pm and 10pm.
Over on Five, the Live UEFA Europa League Football scored a high of 2.5 million viewers, and secured 1.6 million average viewers and a 6.8% share between 7.30pm and 10.30pm.
Earlier on in the evening, BBC One’s Eastenders beat ITV1’s Coronation Street to the top soap spot. Eastenders attracted 9.4 million viewers to Corrie‘s 9 million.
