BBC One

BBC One’s new one-off comedy Accidental Farmer claimed the peak-hour top spot last night with a high of more than 4.6 million viewers.

The hour-long show, starring Ugly Betty‘s Ashley Jensen, pulled in over 4.5 million average viewers and a 17.7% share during the full 9pm to 10pm slot, seeing off competition from ITV1’s The Savoy.

The second and final episode of the fly-on-the-wall documentary, which followed the closure and re-opening of the world-famous Savoy hotel, attracted a slightly lower four million average viewers and a 15.4% share during the peak-hour.

Next in line was Channel 5’s popular CSI: Miami, which picked up 2.5 million average viewers and a 9.9% share between 9pm and 10pm, closely followed by Channel 4’s Jamie’s Best Ever Christmas, which pulled in 2.1 million viewers and a 8.1% share.

Over on BBC Two, the first of the new series Oz and Hugh Raise the Bar secured 1.9 million viewers and a 8% share, though the channel’s Top Gear Christmas special banked an impressive 5.6 million peak viewers in the pre-watershed 8pm to 9pm slot.

However, BBC One was able to boast the highest ratings of the night – more than 10.5 million viewers tuned in for Eastenders and a high of 6.6 million stayed with the channel for Holby City at 8pm.
