TV Overnights: BBC One’s new The Secret Tourist secures peak position

BBC One’s new The Secret Tourist secured the majority of the peak slot (9pm to 10pm) last night, with an average viewing figure of 3.5 million, and a 15.9% share.

However, there was close competition from ITV1’s new series of Police, Camera, Action, which managed top ratings of 3.6 million from 9pm to 9.15pm, before settling to an average of 3.3 million viewers and a 14.9% share.

Elsewhere, Channel 4’s Undercover Boss secured an average of 2.4 million viewers (peaking at 2.7 million) and a 11% share, while BBC Two’s documentary Five Days That Changed Britain achieved 1.7 million viewers, and a 7.5% share.

Five ‘s The Hotel Inspector managed to attract 1.4 million viewers and a 6.5% share.

Earlier in the evening, ITV1’s double bill of soaps held top ratings from 8pm to 9pm. Emmerdale achieved 6.3 million viewers and a 29.8% share, while Coronation Street managed 7 million viewers and a 31.2% share.

BBC One’s Eastenders, airing at 7.30pm, attracted over 8 million viewers and gained a share of 39.6%.

BBC One dominated during the morning, as usual, with ITV1 taking over the afternoon and Channel 4’s Deal or No Deal and Come Dine with Me drawing viewers from 4.45pm to 5.45pm.
