TV Overnights: BBC One’s Spooks wins the peak-hour ratings

BBC One’s long-running Spooks attracted the highest ratings during last night’s 9pm to 10pm prime time slot with a peak audience of 5.2 million viewers.

The hour-long drama pulled in over 5.1 million average viewers and a 20.7% share ahead of ITV1’s 9 o’clock drama Whitechapel, which picked up 4.6 million viewers and a 18.8% share.

Channel 5’s final Rory and Paddy’s Even Greater British Adventure came a not-so-close third place in the peak-hour ratings war with a lower 1.3 million viewers and a 5.6% share, followed by BBC Two’s Horizon: Miracle Cure?, which banked an equal 1.3 million viewers but a slightly lower 5.4% share.

Over on Channel 4, the last in the series of Titanic: The Mission attracted just 1.1 million average viewers and a a 4.6% share between 9pm and 10pm, however, the channel’s new game show The Million Pound Drop Live secured a decent 1.7 million average viewers in the post-10pm slot.

The soaps dominated the early evening slots as usual, with BBC One’s Eastenders and ITV1’s Corrie both claiming an impressive peak audience of 9.1 million viewers.
