TV Overnights: BGT attracts a high of 9m viewers

Britain’s Got Talent live final week continued with nine million peak viewers last night, down slightly on Tuesday’s 9.5 million high.

Last night’s show, presented by Ant & Dec (pictured), attracted 8.2 million average viewers and a 37.3% audience share between 7.30pm and 9pm.

Once again, the popular talent contest, with judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Michael McIntyre and The Hoff, helped to secure the all-important prime time ratings for ITV1.

In the early evening slot, Emmerdale pulled in over 6.4 million peak viewers, while in the 9pm to 9.30pm slot, Coronation Street banked a high of 8.2 million viewers.

At 9.30pm, the Britain’s Got Talent Results Show peaked with more than seven million viewers as Ant & Dec revealed who would make it through to Saturday’s final.

ITV1’s line-up managed to knock BBC One’s The Apprentice off its usual top spot. The Alan Sugar series continued with 6.2 million average viewers and a 24.3% share during last night’s 9pm to 10pm peak hour.

At the same time, BBC Two’s Wonderland – The Men Who Won’t Stop Marching pulled in a low 700,000 average viewers, while Channel 4’s 24 Hours in A&E and 5’s NCIS picked up an equal 1.7 million viewers each.
