The second episode of ITV1’s new five-part detective series Collision secured the highest ratings once again during last night’s all-important 9pm to 10pm peak-hour.

However, the crime drama, which stars Douglas Henshall as DI John Tolin, slipped down to 6.3 million viewers and a 26.4% average audience share compared to its impressive 8.1 million peak viewers during the same slot on Monday night.

Despite shedding viewers on its debut episode, ITV1’s new series – which is due to air at 9pm every night this week – attracted around 2.5 million more viewers than its closest terrestrial rival.

BBC One’s penultimate Around the World in 80 Days, which followed John Barrowman and Myleene Klass on the second to last leg of the journey, pulled in 3.8 million average viewers and a 16.2% audience share.

Five’s CSI:Miami came a fair way behind BBC One but still managed to claim the third spot with 1.9 million average viewers and a 8.1% audience share.

Channel 4’s new Gordon Ramsay’s F Word series, meanwhile, pipped BBC Two’s Horizon: Why Do We Talk? to fourth place with 1.8 million average viewers compared to Horizon’s 1.6 million.
