TV Overnights: Come Fly with Me ends on a 6.1m high

BBC One secured the majority of the 9pm to 10pm peak-hour ratings despite competition from ITV1’s Kidnap and Ransom.

The final Come Fly with Me – Matt Lucas and David Walliam’s latest comedy series – attracted more than 6.1 million peak viewers and a 24.2% average share between 9pm and 9.30pm.

At 9.30pm,  ITV1’s Kidnap and Ransom won over the peak audience for a short 15 minute period. The crime drama, starring Trevor Eve  and John Hannah, pulled in 4.4 million average viewers and a 18.6% share during the full hour-long slot.

BBC One’s Not Going Out took over at 9.45pm to claim the final peak-hour ratings. The comedy secured an average 4.2 million viewers and a 18% share.

Over on Channel 4, the second episode in the documentary series Rome Wasn’t Built in a Day banked 1.4 million viewers and a 5.8% average share, while BBC Two’s Men of Rock picked up 1.2 million viewers and a 5% share.

A lower 996,000 average viewers tuned in to Channel 5’s new Justin Lee Collins: Turning Japanese show during the 9pm to 10pm slot.

Earlier on in the evening, the soaps dominated the pre-watershed ratings. BBC One’s Eastenders peaked with almost 9 million viewers, while ITV1’s Coronation Street pulled in 8.2 million viewers and Emmerdale picked up 7.6 million.
