TV Overnights: Final Diamond Queen wins 6m viewers

The third and final Diamond Queen won the peak-hour ratings for BBC One last night with more than six million viewers.

The Andrew Marr documentary series finished with 5.7 million average viewers and a 23.2% audience share between 9pm and 10pm.

On ITV1, Whitechapel attracted over 5.1 million peak viewers (with an extra 571,000 peak viewers tuning in to ITV1 HD). The fourth episode of the six part drama secured over 4.9 million average viewers on ITV1 (and 542,000 on ITV1 HD).

Meanwhile, BBC Two’s new Monday night line-up included The Bleak Old Shop of Stuff (1.5 million average viewers) at 8.30pm, The Tube (1.8m) at 9pm and the new sketch show Watson & Oliver (1.1m) at 10pm.

Channel 4’s penultimate Coppers banked 1.7 million average viewers between 9pm and 10pm. In the post peak-hour slot, the channel’s new documentary My Social Network Stalker: True Stories pulled in 1.5 million average viewers.

Elsewhere, more than a million viewers tuned in to Channel 5 for Royal Marines: Mission Afghanistan between 9pm and 10pm.

The soaps dominated the pre-watershed line-up, as usual, with ITV1’s Coronation Street just pipping BBC One’s Eastenders to the top spot. Corrie peaked with 8.5 million viewers, while Eastenders hit a high of 8.4 million viewers.
