ITV1’s final Monroe banked the all-important peak-hour ratings with a high of more than 4.5 million viewers last night.
The James Nesbitt drama attracted over 4 million average viewers and a 17.9% share during the 9pm to 10pm slot, ahead of BBC One’s New Tricks.
The penultimate episode of BBC One’s latest New Tricks series pulled in a lower 3.7 million average viewers and a 16.6% share during the peak-hour.
Elsewhere, BBC Two’s A History of Celtic Britain continued with 1.6 million viewers and a 7.1% share, while Channel 4’s new Terror Weapon of the Somme: A Time Team Special secured 1.6 million viewers and a slightly higher 7.3% share.
On Channel 5, the Live UEFA Europa League Football claimed an average audience of 598,000 viewers and a 2.6% share from 7.55pm onwards.
Earlier on in the evening, the soaps dominated the ratings. BBC One’s Eastenders won the highest ratings of the night with 8.6 million peak viewers, while ITV1’s Corrie pulled in 7.6 million viewers and Emmerdale peaked with 6.7 million viewers.
