TV Overnights: ITV1 dominates the Sunday evening top spot

ITV1 secured the Sunday evening top spot once again with Dancing on Ice and Wild at Heart.

The first episode of Dancing on Ice pulled in a high of more than 8.7 million viewers and a 30.6% average audience share between 7.15pm and 8.45pm.

Wild at Heart followed with 7.2 million peak viewers and a 25.8% share, before the Dancing on Ice Skate Off, which picked up 7.1 million peak viewers and a 28.2% share.

The channel’s Live FA Cup Football coverage of the sixth-round ties also dominated the Sunday afternoon ratings with more than 4.8 million viewers and a 26.6% average audience share between 1.20pm and 6.15pm.

ITV1 also had a good run on Saturday with its Football coverage, Midsomer Murders, Ant & Dec’s new Push the Button gameshow and Piers Morgan’s Life Stories with Simon Cowell.

Morgan’s interview with his fellow Britain’s Got Talent judge banked most of the Saturday evening peak-hour top spot with a high of more than 5.7 million viewers and a 23.4% average audience share.

Elsewhere, BBC One’s Let’s Dance for Sport Relief attracted over 7.5 million peak viewers, while the channel’s new eight-part game show The National Lottery: Who Dares Wins pulled in 6.3 million peak viewers.

On Friday, BBC One’s Five Days concluded with more than 6.2 million average viewers and a 25.6% share during the 9pm to 10pm peak-hour, while the soaps dominated the pre-watershed ratings.  Eastenders pipped Corrie to the top spot with a high of 9.6 million viewers compared to Coronation Street‘s 8.8 million peak viewers.
