ITV1’s Live FA Cup Football coverage secured the top spot with a high of more than 6.8 million viewers during the peak-slot last night.
The Leeds v Tottenham game, which ended 3-1 to Spurs, attracted over 5.6 million average viewers and a 23.1% audience share between 7.30pm and 10pm.
However, BBC One’s popular Inspector George Gently came a fairly close second with 4.2 million peak viewers and a 16.4% average audience share between 8.30pm and 10pm.
Elsewhere, Channel 4’s new nine-part Embarrassing Bodies series, with Dr Pixie McKenna and Dr Dawn Harper, pulled in more than 3.5 million peak viewers and a 12.6% average audience share during the 9pm to 10pm peak-hour.
At the same time, Five’s long-running NCIS attracted over 2.1 million viewers and a 8.3% average share, followed by BBC Two’s Horizon: Don’t Grow Old‘s 1.9 million peak viewers and 7% share.
Earlier on in the evening, ITV1’s Emmerdale picked up 7.3 million viewers and a 33% share between 7pm and 7.30pm, while BBC One’s new one-off documentary Jimmy’s Supermarket Secrets: Crop to Shop pulled in over 5 million viewers and a 21.6% share between 7.30pm and 8.30pm.
