ITV1’s long-running Midsomer Murders secured the highest prime time ratings with more than 5.6 million peak viewers last night.
The last in the series of the popular drama with John Nettles attracted over 5.4 million average viewers and a 23% audience share during the 8pm to 10pm slot.
BBC One’s Wednesday evening line-up failed to compete, despite Waterloo Road pulling in a decent 4.5 million average viewers and 19.6% share between 8pm and 9pm, and Motorway Cops picking up more than 3.8 million viewers and a 16.2% share between 9pm and 10pm.
Elsewhere, Channel 4’s Three in a Bed series settled on a fairly low 1.7 million average viewers between 8pm and 9pm, before Jamie Oliver’s new programme Jamie Does – Venice attracted 2.1 million viewers and a 8.9% share during the 9pm to 10pm peak-hour.
Meanwhile, BBC Two’s Monty Hall’s Great Hebridean Escape and Five’s NCIS pulled in an equal 1.3 million average viewers each during the all-important 9pm to 10pm slot.
