ITV1’s new peak-time drama DCI Banks: Aftermath secured the Monday night top spot once again last night ahead of BBC One’s Spooks.

The second episode of the two-part drama with Stephen Tompkinson pulled in more than six million peak viewers and a 22.8% average audience share during the all-important 9pm to 10pm slot.

Meanwhile, BBC One’s popular Spooks starring Richard Armitage and Peter Firth attracted a slightly lower five million viewers and a 20.2% average share.

At the same time, BBC Two’s Horizon: The Death of the Oceans? picked up a respectable two million peak viewers and a 7.9% share, while Channel 4’s Titanic: The Mission pipped Channel 5’s Rory and Paddy’s Even Greater British Adventure to fourth place with 1.2 million viewers to 5’s 1.1 million.

Earlier on in the evening, the soaps dominated the pre-watershed slots, as usual.  BBC One’s Eastenders and ITV1’s Coronation Street both attracted an equal high of nine million viewers.
