TV Overnights: Jack’s death captures the hearts of 10.8m viewers

Jack’s last moments on Coronation Street were watched by a peak audience of more than 10.8 million viewers last night.

The first episode of Corrie attracted over 10.5 million peak viewers and a 42.9% average audience share for ITV1 between 7.30pm and 8pm, before the second episode pulled in 10.8 million peak viewers and a 40.3% average share.

ITV1 also managed to hold on to the peak audience during the post-9pm slot with the second Little House.  The channel’s new drama, which debuted with six million viewers last week, banked the top spot until 9.45pm with a high of 6.1 million viewers and a 22.5% average share.

However, BBC One’s popular Spooks, which lost out to Little House during the Monday night prime-time slot last week, did manage to get a look in between 9.45pm and 10pm with 5.5 million peak viewers and a 20.5% average share.

Elsewhere, Channel 4’s Coppers picked up 2.6 million average viewers and a 10.3% share during the 9pm to 10pm slot, while BBC Two’s new Giles and Sue: Live The Good Life  secured a decent 2.2 million average viewers and a 8.7% share.

Over on Channel 5, Extreme Fishing with Robson Green continued with 1.4 million viewers and a 5.5% average share.
