TV Overnights: Last Monday Monday secures the top spot

The last in the series of ITV1’s Monday Monday secured the top spot with a high of 3.2 million viewers last night.

The comedy drama, starring Fay Ripley and Morven Christie, which is normally overshadowed by BBC One’s The Street, managed to bank the highest ratings during the all-important peak-hour with 2.8 million average viewers and a 13.1% share.

However, BBC One’s new documentary, Can You Bank on Me?, which followed two former bankers as they attempted to experience the recession in the ‘real world’, didn’t come far behind with 2.7 million peak viewers and a 10.8% audience share.

Meanwhile, Five’s final The Hotel Inspector, with Alex Polizzi, banked the same ratings as BBC One with 2.3 million average viewers and an equal 10.8% share between 9pm and 10pm.

At the same time, BBC Two’s second Future of Food pulled in 1.7 million average viewers and a 8.2% share compared to Channel 4’s On Tour with the Queen‘s 1.2 million viewers and 5.8% share.

Earlier on in the evening, ITV1’s Coronation Street pipped its BBC One rival to the top soap spot with a high of 8.5 million viewers compared to Eastenders‘ 7.9 million.
