TV Overnights: Law & Order secures the peak-hour top spot

ITV1’s Law & Order: UK dominated the peak-hour ratings last night with a high of more than 6.1 million viewers.

The last episode of the series, which stars Bradley Walsh and Freema Agyeman, pulled in 5.5 million average viewers and a 22.6% audience share between 9pm and 10pm.

BBC One’s Cars, Cops and Criminals came next in the ratings war with 4.2 million viewers and a 17% average audience share, before Channel Five’s Paul Merton in Europe, which picked up 1.7 million viewers and a 7.2% share.

The penultimate Tower Block of Commons, meanwhile, pulled in 1.2 million viewers and a 4.9% share for Channel 4 between 9pm and 10pm.

At the same time, BBC Two’s second Generation Jihad secured a low 780,000 viewers and a 3.1% average audience share.

Earlier on in the evening, Monday night’s soap line-up stole the show.  BBC One’s Eastenders attracted 10.6 million peak viewers, while ITV1’s Coronation Street pulled in a even higher 10.9  million viewers.

BBC Two’s Winter Olympics coverage, meanwhile, secured 3 million peak viewers and a 11.1% average audience share between 6pm and 8pm.
