BBC One’s long-running New Tricks drama secured the peak-hour top spot last night ahead of ITV1’s new drama Married Single Other.
The New Tricks repeat, with Amanda Redman and Alun Armstrong, pulled in 4.2 million average viewers and a 17.5% audience share between 9pm and 10pm.
The third episode of Married Single Other, meanwhile, started on a high of 4.4 million viewers but slipped down to an average of 3.9 million viewers and a 16.4% share during the full hour-long slot.
Elsewhere, Channel 4’s The Secret Millionaire with business tycoon Paul Ragan attracted more than 2.6 million average viewers and a 10.8% share between 9pm and 10pm.
At the same time, BBC Two’s new three-part series A Band for Britain with Sue Perkins picked up 1.6 million viewers and a 6.7% share, while Five’s 9 o’clock film For a Few Dollars More pulled in 1.4 million viewers and a 8.2% average share.
Earlier on in the evening, Monday evening’s soap line-up dominated the pre-watershed ratings. ITV1’s Coronation Street attracted more than 10.4 million peak viewers, while BBC One’s Eastenders banked over 9.7 million peak viewers.
