BBC One’s New Tricks proved to the most popular Thursday night entertainment, attracting a high of more than 7.2 million viewers.

The crime drama got the better of its direct competition on ITV1 – Law & Order: UK, which managed a peak audience of 3.4 million.

Elsewhere, ITV4’s coverage of Liverpool’s Europa League match against Utrecht attracted a healthy audience for the digital channel. An average of 663,000 viewers tuned into the whole programme, which peaked at 1.8 million viewers during the fifteen minute slot between 7.30pm and 7.45pm.

Meanwhile, Five’s coverage of Manchester City’s home game against Juventus pulled in an average of over two million viewers. The game secured a peak audience of three million viewers between 9.15pm and 9.30pm
