ITV1’s new five part detective series Collision secured the top spot during the 9pm to 10pm peak-hour for the fourth night running last night with a high of 6.6 million viewers.
The penultimate episode attracted 6.5 million average viewers and a 27.8% share, securing a substantial gap between ITV1 and its closest terrestrial rival BBC One.
BBC One’s Crimewatch, which focused on an appeal for witnesses to the murder of 22-year-old Royal Navy seaman Anthony Cavanagh – a man mutilated and stripped of his identity 18 years ago – pulled in 3.9 million average viewers and a 16.9% share.
Despite falling a fair way behind ITV1’s peak-hour lead, BBC One did manage to come well ahead of the remaining three channels in the 9pm to 10pm slot.
Channel 4’s new documentary Octomom: Me and My 14 Kids picked up 1.7 million average viewers and a 7.3% share, while Five’s 9 o’clock film Lethal Weapon 4 pulled in 1.1 million average viewers and a 6.3% share.
BBC Two’s Defying Gravity, meanwhile, only secured 743,000 average viewers and a low 3.4% audience share during the 9pm to 10pm slot.
Earlier on in the evening, ITV1’s new Thursday evening soap line-up banked a peak run. Emmerdale pulled in more than 7.5 million peak viewers during its 30 minute slot from 8pm, followed by Coronation Street‘s 8 million peak viewers.
However, BBC One’s Eastenders‘ claimed the top soap spot at the earlier time of 7.30pm, picking up a high of 8.3 million viewers and a 37.2% share.
